— Ohio Lieutenant Governor and Department of Insurance Director Mary Taylor revoked the resident insurance agent license of Deana Ladd, of Van Wert, Ohio, for violations of Ohio insurance law.
A Department review revealed that around March 23, 2009, Ladd was convicted of theft, a felony. Ohio insurance law allows the Director to revoke an agent’s Ohio insurance license for being convicted of a felony.
Ladd’s resident insurance agent license was revoked June 27, 2011.

In March 2011, a Marist Poll revealed that two-thirds of Americans believe that drivers should be retested for their license once they reach the age of 65, even if they have a good driving history. Many experts believe that driving capabilities can diminish when drivers get older from failing eyesight as well as other physical issues and mental restrictions.
But is it a good idea to have seniors to retake their drivers license test once they reach a certain age? Have states looked into this requirement for drivers? Could taking a step like this affect auto insurance rates?

COLUMBUS — Ohio Department of Insurance Director Mary Jo Hudson has announced that the Department has revoked the license of Centennial Insurance Company of New York, New York for alleged violations of Ohio insurance law.
Centennial Insurance Company reported a negative capital and surplus of $2, 029,752 as of December 31, 2009 in its annual financial statement. Ohio insurance law requires insurance companies that have authority to write commercial lines of business, like Centennial, to maintain a minimum capital and surplus of $5 million to do business in the state of Ohio and allows the Director to revoke a company’s license for failing to do so.
